Mama's Family is an American television sitcom that launches its first presentation on January 22, 1983 at NBC. On May, 1984 it was canceled. However, NBC would continue to run the show again until September 1985. In September, 1986, Mama'a Family returned in first-run syndication, where it aired for additional four seasons that last on February 24, 1990. Mama's Family derived its concept from a recurring comedy sketches series called “Family” which appeared on 1970's at “The Carol Burnett Show” in the 1970s.
Mama'a Family dug out humor from a quarreling family in the Midwestern blue collar outskirt of Raytown in Jackson County in Missouri, USA. The noisy clan is lead by Mama, a buxom, gray haired widow who is loudmouthed and outspoken. Mama shared her small house with her highly nervous sister Fran, a journalist for a local newspaper. Mama's lazy and stupid son, Vint, a locksmith, with his children Sonja and Buzz moved in with her later after his wife Mitzi left him to become a cocktail waitress in Las Vegas, Nevada. In extent to Mama's repulsion, Vint formed a relationship with their flirtatious neighbor, Naomi and soon the two got married.
Mama's Family is a piece of classic TV from 1983. It is a friendly comedy evolved around the activities of a Midwestern family who just can't get along. The main character Mama that lives with her sister Fran and son Vint and to add to the stormy discussion, Vint's wife – Naomi and Vint's two kids from his previou s marriage, Sonja and Buzz. All residing to her overstuffed house. At the same time, Mama's two other daughters, Eunice and Ellen often drop by to cause another chaos. It is a very simple and yet great family show. Mama's Family DVD is now available in many DVD stores offline and online.
